The Sculpture Gallery

To round off your corporate or society golf day, dinner at the Sculpture Gallery at Woburn Abbey is an experience to be remembered.

The Sculpture Gallery was originally built as an Orangery in 1789 for the 5th Duke of Bedford. In 1802 the Temple of Liberty was added as a setting for busts of the leading political figures of the day. In 1818 the Orangery was enlarged to house the Duke's collection of marble statues and reliefs and it became officially known as the Sculpture Gallery. During the past 100 years the Gallery was seldom used until some of the sculptures were removed around 20 years ago to enable the gallery to be beautifully restored and converted to the splendid building it is today.

Comprising a long room in 3 sections, supported by columns topped with Corinthian capitals dating back to the 2nd century, the Gallery has many fine sculptures still on display from the original collection. The Sculpture Gallery can cater for dinner dances seating up to 240 people. There are two smaller rooms adjacent to the Sculpture Gallery - the Long Harness and Lantern Room. The Long Harness Room is pine panelled and carpeted and is used as a bar area for larger functions.

All catering for the Sculpture Gallery, Lantern and Long Harness Rooms is carried out by our own staff under the supervision of the Catering Manager. Our kitchens use fresh produce selected from local shops and markets. A full range of menus is available to you and we pride ourselves on our flair and imagination but we can also provide menus to your own exact requirements.
